The new Chipotle on 86th Street in Bensonhurst isn’t just your typical Chipotle – it’s the first in the Big Apple to feature a walk-in window for picking up digital orders.

“Chipotle’s mission is to cultivate a better world by making our real food more accessible to everyone,” said Erin Wolford, senior director of external communications at Chipotle. “We are thrilled to open a new location in Bensonhurst with a walk-in window – the first walk-in window in New York City – allowing neighborhood residents to enjoy delicious and authentic food more than ever before. . ”

The chain’s new outpost, located between Bay 26th Street and 21st Avenue, opened on June 30, joining a dozen other franchises in the borough. The big opening in Bensonhurst comes shortly after the national chain opened its first Brooklyn location with a “Chipotlane” drive-thru in Sunset Park.

The walk-in window feature is designed to allow customers to pick up their orders, placed on the app or through their website, without having to enter the restaurant. The feature comes after many restaurants and stores across the city built take-out windows in their storefronts in order to comply with statewide coronavirus regulations.

The national chain has two other locations with no-elevator windows in Southern California and Chicago, said Wolford, who added that New York City is a great market for more such features because of its location. predominant culture of walking.

“Although this is the first location with a walk-in window in New York City, the amount of foot traffic through the city makes it a great place to open other walk-in window restaurants,” Wolford said in an email to Brooklyn Paper.

The chain’s Bensonhurst store, known for its Mexican fast food over the counter, is open daily from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m.
